1st Place: Bjöern Griesheimer (Germany): "Miraclum maximum"
2nd Place: Chan-Kyeong Seong (S. KOREA): "Nire"
3rd Place: Alvaro Herran (Colombia): "Dawn Chorus"

We have got 69 works of 63 applications from 28 countries this year;

Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Korea, Latvia, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, Thailand, USA, UK, Ukraine

We highly appreciate their brilliant  works which were impressive enough to touch the judge.

However, as the Busan Composition Competition much prefers artistically higher quality songs, so the judgement focused on it.

It is great that the ability of composers in the Busan Choral Festival & Composition has been improving year by year. A balance between voices which is essential for Choral Music, high organizational skills and brand new harmony are one of them. They all show a high standard even though the development of the story is somewhat incomplete as it is bounded by lyrics. However, considering that the BCFC is more a culture-exchange opportunity for choristers from all around the world than just a competition, it would be better if there was some more modern works based on their folklore as cultural art could be developed by fiery newness which come from the one of mine and others.

All winners of the 1,2,3 places are invited to join the 2016 Busan Choral Festival & Competition and will receive their Diplomas during an Award Ceremony on Saturday, October 21, 2016. The Prize Money will be sent to their bank account within 2 weeks after finishing the BCFC.

The first prize winner's work will be performed by The Metropolitan Chorus of Tokyo conducted by Ko Matsushita (subject to change) during their concert on OCT 20th, 2016.

As a member of the 2016 BCFC, they will be entitled to participate in all the Festival activities including the Choral Competition, Choral Workshops and additional performances.

If there is any winner who cannot join the Festival, the BCFC committee will mail the Diploma via First Class Mail to the address provided in the Application Form.

Congratulations!
