Brief assessment of a president of the Jury, Young-Jo Lee

I am particularly delighted that there are some high quality works this year compared to last year which shows Busan Composition Competition plays a huge role in development of the World Choral Music.

All works have a range of texts, strong personality and remarkable harmony which leads to modern sound effects. I feel sorry about the lack of voice role as they are devoted to the color of sound which leads to a stagnant melody and it also causes the lack of the beauty of balance in a through construct as the lyrics define musical structure in choral music.

However, I have found that there are some works which show deeply artistic thought this year as well.

I define the music is full of meaningful sounds. I assure that all works of this year already reached the higher level and trust to meet more meaning sounds in the future in this competition.

We have got 74 works of 65 applications from 29 countries this year. We highly appreciate their brilliant works which were impressive enough to touch the jury. However, as the Busan Composition Competition much prefers artistically higher quality songs, so the judgement focused on it.
